Have you read the new mission books for this year? Mission  books have been a part of the mission education program since  1926. There are sets of books for adults, youth, and children.  The books provide in-depth views of the Church of the Nazarene  globally, focusing on missionaries and their work in a specific  country, or zeroing in on indigenous leaders in the  denomination.   This year’s adult books are: Mursi: Reaching the Unreached of  Ethiopia by Howie Shute, WHDL: A library for the World by Tammy Condon, Living Side by Side: Serving the People  of Cactus, Texas by Jennie Monteblanco, and Eyewitness: Seeing from within an Oppressive Society by Cusztinne’  Tulipa’n Maria. In this book Maria shares a perspective of her family’s life under Communism. Despite the  difficulties, their faith remained strong and Maria learned important lessons about God’s faithfulness that helped  her and her husband, Imre’, plant the Church of the Nazarene in Hungary. Read it! You will learn how Christians  survived persecution during the Cold War years.    The books can be read individually, or as part of a book review study. Children’s books can be checked out to  individual children or read to a group in Children’s Church or VBS. Grandparents can read them to their  grandchildren.    Then the number of readers need to be reported to the NMI book chairman in your church.  ~Ruth Hasenauer District Mission Education Coordinator
